Through the years I have heard them nicknames for kids of all types: affectionate, funny, graphic, representative, surprising, posh, very posh ... Nicknames are the nicknames we use to call our children instead of using their first name. Many adults refuse to reveal the nickname they had as children, and that is, perhaps very large ears, exaggerated teeth, a few extra kilos or the fact of wearing glasses earned them a nickname that ruined their childhood.
However, this time we will not talk about those nicknames that some classmates gave us with a bad idea, but about those funny, tender and affectionate names that our parents used with us or we invented for our children.
I've done a poll and found a bunch of nicknames of many different types:
- Food-related nicknames
Butternut squash, to a friend with a lot of hair of a color between blonde and red. I also know some who received nicknames like cookie or cupcake.
- Nicknames related to stories
Pirate, prince, princess, Kika ...
- Nicknames for babies
Honey, baby, cuchi, fat, life, chubby, little ball, solete, heaven, treasure, doll. They are affectionate nicknames and often very cheesy, but we love them because babies are so small, cute and cuddly that those nicknames inspire us.
- Nicknames related to animals
Little bug, little mouse, kitty, chick, little bear. We usually put them in diminutive to help soften the nickname, since sometimes its traditional form can sound abrupt or rude.
- Graphic nicknames
Earthquake, big eyes, little boy, little girl, smurf, skinny, freckled ...
- Nicknames derived from the name
Gigi for Guillermina; Guille for Guillermo, Paco for Francisco; Teté for Teresa; Lulú for Lucía, Collate for Nicolás, Dudu for Eduardo, Pepe for Jose, Nacho for Ignacio ...
Most of us lose many of these nicknames when we grow up and become adults, but in some cases they still persist and some people secretly remain at home, even after 40: Luisito, gusanito or pelusa, right?
